Introduction

  • Introducing interviewers and interviewees (organization, role, background)
  • Somus project: goals and open practices
  • interview will take about one hour (recording, video clip, public summaries)
  • the research material is confidential and for researchers only, but some extracts will be published with permission of interviewee
  • the main goal of the interview is to find potential partners for case studies, but something may be published scientifically as well.

Theme 1: Community

  • What is the goal of the community?
  • How was it born?
  • What kind of people participate in it? How many are you?
  • What are the main activities?
  • What kind of communication channels are needed and for which purposes?
  • Are there any similar communities (that you collaborate with)?
  • Do you collaborate with any Finnish communities or organizations? Which?

Theme 2: Interaction with the state and the city – state of the art and wishes

  • How do you identify yourself as a part of Finnish society (citizen, inhabitant of the home city)?
  • In which situations immigrants (you) are in contact with the public sector (state, city) in Finland?
  • What kind of interaction with the public sector (state, city) immigrants (you) need and want?
  • Immigrants as citizens - state of the art: do you participate in politics or some other decision making / civic activities?
    • Are there any practices or processes to be in contact with the public sector?
    • What are the channels and or tools?
    • What kind of problems and challenges do you see in the communication?
  • What kind of interests do you have towards the public sector?
    • In which processes and practices do you want to participate?

Theme 3: Public data and services

  • What kind of (open) information would be needed for better communication / collaboration with the public sector?
    • Do you have any ideas how to utilize publicly available information?
  • What kind of information could you (immigrant community) provide to public sector?
    • Who could be interested in your input?
  • What kind of possibilities social media could provide for immigrants and public sector collaboration?
  • Vision and challenges
    • If the world would be perfect as regards citizens and public sector collaboration, how would it work?
    • What hinders this vision to become true?
